As the outdoors become more enticing, both new and established events are popping up around the city of Atlanta for your enjoyment. This weekend, head to the Cobb Carnival during its final weekend so you can experience great food, fun rides, and live entertainment, or be the first to check out a new beer garden near Truist Park. With Easter occurring coming up on Sunday, there'll be plenty of brunch specials and egg hunts happening around town, so be prepared for a day filled with feasts, family, and copious amounts of chocolate. Since its return in January, the Arts Atlanta has been steadily putting its stamp on the city. Located in Downtown’s historic Underground, this First Friday will feature some of Atlanta’s hottest DJs and artists, art installations, poetry, film, and fashion. The carefully curated selection of artists will showcase their work across various mediums, offering a truly immersive multimedia experience.

Following the release of their debut single "Essence Fest," Grammy Award-winning producer, songwriter, and rapper, Jermaine Dupri, and New Orleans-based artist and founder of Jet Life Recordings, Curren$y, will hit the city of Atlanta to showcase their new album For Motivational Use Only. This July, you can also see the two at the ESSENCE Festival celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, as well as So So Def’s 30th year in operation. This weekend, pull up to the High for sculptor and printmaker Bruce Onobrakpeya’s first solo exhibition at an American museum. One of the fathers of Nigerian modernism and a founding member of the Zaria Art Society, his latest work, titled The Mask and the Cross, describes the artist’s work from 1967 through 1978, during which he created numerous pieces combining Nigerian tradition and folklore with Catholic stories from the Bible.

Old Fourth Ward
For years, Oakland Cemetery has come to be known as one of the most haunted—and most visited—places in Atlanta, but it is also home to the Historic Oakland Foundation’s 16th annual Run Like Hell 5K. This year’s race returns to the cemetery, showcasing the beauty of its gardens in the springtime. Participants will get to enjoy these picturesque surroundings while they are encouraged to “run like hell” and earn prizes for top times or costume contests. After the race, enjoy the post-race party at Republic Social House, where SweetWater Brewing Company will provide one free beer to individuals who arrive wearing their race number.

Celebrate Easter all around the city

Easter is finally upon us—which means pastel-colored outfits, family outings, and competitive egg hunts. Hop on over to The Works, New Realm Brewing, and other places around town for a variety of kid-friendly activities, photo opportunities, live music, petting zoos, and egg hunts. The city of Stonecrest will also host its annual Easter Egg Drop, which is a celebration of the new season, culminating with helicopters dropping eggs to attendees throughout the day.

Kennesaw
Join the thousands of attendees at the Town Centre at Cobb Carnival for its final weekend. This heralded amusement park experience is fun for the whole family, stacked with exciting rides, games, fair food, thrill shows, and Big Bee, the transforming robot car. Circus shows feature high-wire and aerial performances from the Globe of Death motorcycle thrill act, and event admission, parking, and live entertainment are free, while unlimited ride tickets run about $35.

This weekend is one of the last opportunities to see a top contender for the best stage play of the year: The Boy Who Kissed The Sky. Set in the heart of Seattle, this production tells the story of the early life and influences of musical icon Jimi Hendrix. Commissioned by Seattle Children’s Theatre in partnership with Alliance Theatre, this highly theatrical play by Idris Goodwin is a must see.

In conjunction with the Braves home opener, a new bar garden is coming to The Battery Atlanta this weekend. The Blue Moon Beer Garden is the latest addition to Truist Park and will offer an outdoor patio just steps away from the entrance of the stadium, along with live music, plenty of TVs so you can watch your favorite sporting event, and so much more. The menu will highlight Southern cuisine and seafood with dishes like Citrus-Poached Jumbo Shrimp and Braised Mussels with Garlic.
